Team Fortress Arcade Releases Today, Download it Free Now!

Posted on Oct 8, 2011 07:06:24 PM

When we first heard that legendary game demaker Eric Ruth would be turning his pixelated genius towards Team Fortress 2, we had a lot of questions. Sure, Team Fortress Arcade looked like a spectacular reimagining of Valve’s shooter as a retro side-scroller, but would it be able to satisfy our nostalgia pangs for ‘90s arcade games and our love of TF2? Would all nine classes be just as fun to play in 2D? More importantly, when would it be released?

The answers to those questions are: yes, hell yes, and today.

Download Team Fortress Arcade for Free!

That’s right, you can download Team Fortress Arcade right now. Just click that giant link right up there.

If you’re still not convinced, head past the jump and take a look our earlier hands on preview vid and an exclusive new interview with Eric Ruth himself. You’ll get to see three of the game’s ten levels, six of the the nine characters, and, of course, the local co-op that makes TFA a blast to play with your friends.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

Posted on Oct 6, 2011 01:30:01 AM

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is the next chapter in the best-selling Call of Duty First-Person Shooter action series.

Modern Warfare 3 is a direct sequel to the previous game in the series, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The game will continue the campaign storyline in which the U.S. forces struggle against an invasion by the Russian Federation following the framing of an undercover U.S. agent in a terrorist attack on Moscow.

The game will not only contain classic Call of Duty multi-character control, but Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 contains deep multiplayer support, including two-player Co-op Survival mode. The game will also contain all-new Kill Streak categories and customizable strike packages that offer you more options to find the style that fits you best.

Impossible Creature: Incredipede

Posted on Oct 5, 2011 06:52:27 PM

Left to steer the good ship RPS on my own today, I was feeling a little grim. Jaw set, lip slightly curled, brow furrowed, coffee cup crushed by my feeble fist: you know the look. Then I watched this footage of Incredipede (‘a game about life and feet’), the next offering from the creator of Fantastic Contraption, and now I keep giggling to myself and wanting to hug people.

Ambulatory transformable beast in procedurally-generated, physics-based, freeform puzzle solving? Sign me right up. Apparently the creature-creation possibilites are ‘practically limitless’.

Incredipede! There is no finer name for a videogame.

Crysis Console – Launch Trailer

Posted on Oct 5, 2011 01:38:39 AM

Crysis for Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network is a modified and enhanced version of the award-winning single-player campaign from the original Crysis.

The original Crysis debuted as a PC-exclusive game in 2007, and it quickly became the gold standard for unattainably high-end PC gaming. This was a game that brought most gaming PCs grinding to a halt unless you reduced your graphical settings. One thing was clear at the time of the game’s original release four years ago: Crysis wouldn’t work on a console. Or would it? How things change, eh!?

Rogue Physicist: Freeman In Renegade Ops

Posted on Oct 4, 2011 07:21:41 PM

Seeing that picture could have put all kinds of ideas in your head, which is why I didn’t make the headline cruelly vague. What it all actually denotes is Gordon Freeman’s rather surprising presence in the Steam version of Renegade Ops, Avalanche’s top-down, four player vehicle-based destructathon. Gordon will be driving his buggy and he’s bringing some antlions along to use in a special attack. Oh, Gordon, you’re so science. Avalanche did promise some extras for the Steam version of the game after delivering it to console-dwellers before we PC folk and it’s good of them to follow through on that promise. They’ve even given us a Gordon-specific trailer along with a release date: October 14th.

I’m presuming there will shortly be confirmation that Renegade Ops takes place in the Half Life universe.

Serious Sam 3: BFE slips to Nov. 22

Posted on Oct 2, 2011 11:53:17 PM

PC version of Croteam first-person shooter revival pushed back a month, still no update on Xbox 360 and PS3 release windows.

If there’s one thing Serious Sam isn’t so serious about, it’s keeping appointments. Devolver Digital and Croteam today announced the second delay for the PC version of Serious Sam 3: BFE, pushing the game’s launch back to November 22.

The PC game was originally announced as a summer release and then issued what would turn out to be an equally erroneous October 18 launch date. There is still no word on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 editions of the game, which were announced for summer but have not been given a new release window.

A prequel to Serious Sam: The First Encounter, BFE takes place in 22nd-century Egypt amid a collapsing civilization beset by unearthly beasts. The game sees the return of the series’ signature adversaries like the Headless Kamikaze and Gnaar, as well as new opponents going by names like Scrapjack and Khnum.

Serious Sam 3′s gameplay also features a number of additions, with Sam in particular getting an assortment of new melee moves. Additionally, up to 16 players at a time can play through the game’s cooperative campaign mode.
