Warco

Posted on Oct 17, 2011 12:54:00 AM

In the Warco, you control a journalist filming and traveling through war zones.

The game itself — the title of which is actually short for “war correspondent” — follows the story of journalist Jesse DeMarco. Players will experience the process of filming conflicts, going into dangerous situations armed with nothing but a camera. They will then edit the footage into a compelling news story. The scenarios range from intense bursts of action to quieter moments as you discuss the events of the day with fellow journalists in a hotel. Though the main mechanic will be filming the action, Warco is also very much about choice.

Phoenix Wright Is the Greatest Fighting Game Character Ever

Posted on Oct 14, 2011 05:41:54 PM

Capcom revealed the first gameplay video of Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 playable character Phoenix Wright, and I can say without fear of hyperbole he should be in every fighting game ever. Forget the awesomeness of the comparatively tiny lawyer beating up the foes like the Hulk, the guy throws the book at his opponents — as a move. He literally throws “the book” at them. He also throws damaging evidence, attacks by walking forward while writing notes, and, of course, says “OBJECTION!” so powerfully the word balloon brings his foes to their knees. And that’s just his regular special movies; the hyper combos include a judge bringing a very large hammer of justice down, and then Wright proving his opponent guilty (of what, I’m not sure) which is awesome and becomes infinitely more awesome when it’s used on characters like Doctor Doom. God help me, between Phoenix here and the still-in-all-likelihood-happening-but-as-yet-unseen Rocket Raccoon, I may have to pony up for this thing. I don’t even need to play it. I just want to own it.

Very Disco: Hitman Absolution

Posted on Oct 13, 2011 07:11:21 PM

Somehow, this is the first official in-game footage of Hitman: Subtitle which has been released to the hungry eyes of the public. Feast, feast!

As Adam worried in his preview t’other week, old 47 doesn’t appear to be quite so silent an assassin as he once was, but it’s good to see he’s still playing fancy dress in between punching people and shooting people and throwing people and choking people.

Well, that was far too short. Also, is 47 Batman now?

Hedone is a free-to-play multiplayer online first-person shooter.

The concept behind the game is simple – pure hedonism! In the world of Hedone, your top priority is personal pleasure, fun and fame. The gamer enters the arena of a combat game show that is aired worldwide, allows themselves to be acclaimed as celebrity, then satisfies his or her craving for personal glory and decadence in a gripping, nerve-wracking atmosphere charged with suspense.

Players can transform their character continuously and have a weapons system at their disposal that is constantly improving.

No Time To Explain!

Posted on Oct 12, 2011 01:32:25 PM

No Time To Explain is a game about time paradoxes, jetpack guns and ribs in people’s eyes. It’s also an indie platformer! It first appeared as a brief but hilarious flash game and has since been fleshed out into a full game thanks to generous donations to the dev’s kickstarter page.

Here’s a trailer:

Growing Pains – Gameplay Video

Posted on Oct 11, 2011 10:58:16 PM

Smudged Cat Games, the creators of “The Adventures of Shuggy” are proud to present the trailer for their upcoming new game, “Growing Pains”.

Growing Pains gives the traditional platformer a shake up with psychedelic graphics, a thumping sound track and an ingenious twist that you’ve never seen before. The ‘Vessel’ which you control continually grows and expands leaving you in a permanent race to clear the area and escape before you get too big and find your butt wedged in a tight spot.

Combine this with tight controls and levels crammed with devious traps and you’ve got a heart-pounding race guaranteed to leave you with sweaty palms and a sense of overwhelming satisfaction when you reach the goal.

Despite costing a measly 240 MS points Growing Pains will feature 9 massive levels each with 3 difficulty levels that radically change how each level plays out. This is the kind of game that just makes you want to show everyone your skills so level times and replays are shared with other gamers while you play allowing you to compare high scores against your friends and the rest of the world.

Growing Pains will be out for the XBox Indie games channel in October adding to our existing line up of “A Bomb’s Way”, “The Tower: A Bomb’s Climb” and “Timeslip”!

Veni, Vidi, Voxel: Voxatron

Posted on Oct 11, 2011 06:57:57 PM

Some days it’s hard to coax a smile out of me, usually because I’ve inadvertently pondered the state of the world rather than concentrating on my cocoon of make-believe. There were moments this morning when I thought this might be one such day and that I’d end up typing furious screeds about every terrible piece of news I could find. But the I saw the new trailer for Voxatron, which made everything seem just fine. Better than fine. We’ve had our eyes on this for a while but this is the first new footage since April and it comes with the announcement that the alpha will be available soon for anyone willing to preorder. Take a look.

That really hits the spot. The bit with the lava at the end? Exciting! The part with the sword that brings back memories of hours playing Ant Attack? Delightful! The Voxel Man’s twitching eye and bleeding nose? Confusing and frightening!

Along with destructible environments and groovy music, Voxatron will contain a full world editor. The alpha will be available “shortly” but the full version’s release isn’t fixed yet, as the game is expanding from an arcade shooter into a more ambitious adventure. The editor, which you can see more of here, should still allow for self-contained sessions of running, jumping and voxelcide.

Let’s hope that’s not my entire smile quotient for the day.

A World of Keflings

Posted on Oct 10, 2011 08:12:00 PM

Like the earlier A Kingdom for Keflings, A World of Keflings is a collection of virtual building blocks that add up to an experience, much like playing with Legos or Tinkertoys. However, if you’re in the mood for some relaxing city building and don’t object to micromanagement, hanging out with these Smurf-like minions in their Lilliputian realms can be rewarding. Younger gamers should really enjoy their time here, and even more grizzled types might take some pleasure from the easygoing activities on offer as a break from more action-oriented fare.
