Unknown Worlds have sent word that their hybird FPS/RTS Natural Selection 2 will finally be released on October 31st. Natural Selection 2 is a sequel to the famed and enormously popular Half-Life mod, which was one of the most ambitious attempts to shake up the “Fortress” formula.
Dinosaurs versus heavily armed people. It’s a tale as old as time, with a clear artistic through line that begins in the cave paintings of Mann-Shüt, which depicted heroic cavefolk firing rocks at armies of marauding velociraptors, and ends with Primal Carnage.
More footage from the weekend’s Eurogamer shindig. Crysis 3′s ‘infection type multiplayer mode, Hunter, is shown in a new video, demonstrating the Museum of Modern Art map. I’m not sure if everyone else already knew this but the Crash Site mode from Crysis 2 is back as well. That’s all about reaching and securing a location on the map and made for some interesting use of space in the previous game.
My relationship with Hitman and his latest subtitle is one of love at fifth sight. It hasn’t been a whirlwind romance, instead starting with something more like a few gentle but malodorous gusts of disappointment, but now I think we’re just about ready to snuggle again.
With long-time Splinter Cell protagonist Sam Fisher replaced by new character Bland Younger, series reboot Blacklist has a lot of work to do win over old fans. This latest trailer probably won’t help, given it focuses almost entirely on open, brutal violence and winds up by promoting pre-order incentives. It’s for The Young People, the ones who can’t get enough of machine guns and evisceration.

Okay, so this DLC has been out for a little while now and I normally wouldn’t have posted it, having missed the boat, but this is Grimlock related news. If I have news that relates to Grimlock I don’t care how old it is, Imma post it anyhow…………Best. Transformer. EVER.
OK, so I’m starting to warm up to this “Agent Huntley” narrator guy Ubisoft’s got talking us through the most recent Far Cry 3 videos. He’s basically a more tropical Max Payne – which, given recent events in Max Payne’s life, means he’s basically just Max Payne.
True fact: natural selection, the “survival of the fittest” cornerstone of Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution, was named after Unknown Worlds’ Natural Selection 2. Yes, that’s right: Natural Selection 2 has been in development since the mid-1800s. Check a history book. It’s the truth.
If the CoD guys just aren’t providing you with enough bland first person shooter action and you need some delicious, generic army man ass-whoopin’ action, this could be right up your street. Then again so could a lobotomy. Still, at least it’s cheaper than buying another bloody Call Of Duty game!
