A new developer gets their chance at a Dragon Ball game, with class-based fighting and eight-player battles – but is it just for anime fans? It may not be one of the most obvious licences to complain about, as far as most Western gamers are concerned, but how the video games industry has managed to get this far without a definitive Dragon Ball Z game we don’t know. But it seems Japanese developers are just as inept as their Western counterparts at making superhero games, especially in this vapid new adaptation of the classic anime.

Broken Age, the long-awaited new game from Double Fine which helped push Kickstarter into the gaming limelight, is finally available for purchase. Double Fine has faithfully recorded and shared the development process with its backers, and today celebrates the public, commercial release of Broken Age Act 1 on Steam with this new launch trailer.

Aion: Steel Cavalry, the upcoming expansion for NCsoft’s massively multiplayer online release, is launching for free come Jan. 29, the publisher announced. Steel Cavalry features the new Aethertech class, two additional in-game instances, new skills, along with general balances and improvements.

One thing’s for sure: Consortium isn’t afraid to hide one of its chief influences. Mere minutes in, responding to a quip from the pilot of a futuristic craft crammed with quasi-military types, I jumped on the best of three possible responses: “So you’re the ship’s joker, right?” Had it used a capital “J,” developer Interdimensional Games might as well have shouted out its inspiration.

The Living Story that player’s have been a part of for over a year in Guild Wars 2 begins to come to a close with ‘Origins of Madness’! We’ve fought the Molten Alliance, the Aetherblades, and even Queen Jennah’s own Watchknights in the Guild Wars 2 living story, and all because Scarlet Briar seems to want to see the world burn.

Insurgency began life as a popular mod for Half-Life 2 called Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat but last year New World Interactive launched the full game on Steam Early Access. After nine months of further tweaking and testing, the shooter has now been given a release date of 22 January.
